PERSONALITY:

Azura was originally a princess of Valla, a hidden kingdom between the two lands of Hoshido and Nohr. However, due to Anankos, a mighty dragon (equivalent to gods in this world), going mad and taking over the kingdom, Azura and her mother had to flee to Nohr, where her mother remarried to King Garon. During this time, Azura faced significant amounts of discrimination against herself from the Nohrian people due to their unknown origins and a dislike of the replacement of their original queen, Katerina, to the point that the other Nohrian royal children weren’t even allowed to interact with her at all. Due to this rejection and disdain, Azura withdrew into herself, becoming a much more quiet, reserved, introverted, and serious person than she had been before. This was her best defense against the hatred put towards herself, to remain stoic and unseen so she wouldn’t be on the receiving end of their hatred any longer, and to block out the pain she felt over the rejection. Not to mention, the environment in Nohr was hostile to begin with, rife with infighting and attempted assassinations of the other children, including herself. She even has a nasty looking scar on her body from some older children that thought it would be fun to taunt her, but it went too far and left her injured.

It didn’t help that she had the knowledge of Valla to hold onto, given that due to the curse of Valla, she could not speak of the land to anyone without disappearing. She had her mother for a while to share this burden with, but in order to protect her and Nohr, her mother had to speak of Valla, and thus disappeared – it isn’t to my knowledge, however, ever explained what she was protecting them from. My assumption is that she was trying to warn King Garon of Anankos attempting to possess him, and with the resulting death by telling him about Valla, it probably drove him the rest of the way towards possession anyways, since it seems they did genuinely love each other. This of course only served to alienate Azura further, up until such a time that Corrin and herself were kidnapped in kind by the opposing nations.

Azura was treated somewhat better by the Hoshidans, but there was still a level of distrust towards her by the people, even if the royal family had accepted her. Either way, it was a significantly better environment for her than Nohr had been, which she cherished, as she had lived every day in constant fear while she lived in Nohr. Despite this, she still tended to avoid being around people if she could help it though, and didn't often initiate conversation herself. People outside of her family viewed her as cold and aloof, and she didn't do anything to try to dispel that rumor. According to her, she wonders if it's not her destiny to be despised, due to cruelness she faced in Nohr, and the constant rumors and distrust she faced in Hoshido. Yet she accepts the distrust and hatred, never trying to argue her case to anyone that comes to her with it.

In Conquest, you can see an example of the fact that the Hoshidans still didn’t trust her when they try to get rid of her after Corrin’s perceived betrayal, assuming that she would do the same due to also being from Nohr beforehand. Even despite that remaining hatred towards herself, Azura holds a certain amount of guilt with regards to Corrin, thinking that she had received all the love and support from the Hoshidan royalty that rightfully belonged to Corrin, and had robbed them of it despite the fact it wasn’t her fault. She even goes as far as to tell the royal family that they no longer needed to love her, due to their real sibling being back – never has Azura managed to fit in anywhere, truly, in her heart. This is even reflected in her sleep habits, where she never truly can relax and sleep peacefully, always plagued with bad dreams and restlessness. Due to the quiet stoicism she had developed, Azura can come across rather blunt at times, even if she doesn’t mean to. She also is a tad cynical and weary about the world due to all of her hardships, in a contrast to the chipper and optimistic protagonist we find in Corrin.

Despite all this, Azura is still a kindhearted individual. She has a lot of love to give in her heart, and is willing to joke around and have fun with people once she's more comfortable and able to properly open up, such as teasing people with ghost stories, which she enjoys telling. Azura can also be rather good at sensing people's emotions, especially if she watches them dance. She’s determined to help make the world a better place alongside Corrin, and do whatever she can to support them in their cause, to the point of even giving up her own life. She also vows to protect Corrin wholeheartedly, and do the dirty work that Corrin was too afraid to do, and protect them from anyone that would hurt them, including invaders that tried to murder Corrin — it is during one such attempted assassination she makes this vow to Corrin, after murdering the intruder.

POWER:

-Magic pendant; when she sings or hums the song Lost in Thoughts All Alone, she has the ability to suppress aggression/calm someone and perform exorcisms on those who have been taken over by evil spirits, and temporarily renew allies spirits and energy even if they're exhausted. The more power she puts into it the more of a toll it puts on herself, and if she overuses it, she'll become either seriously in pain with purple spots of odd energy appearing on her body, or it'll result in her slowly crystallizing and dissipating into water, dead. When she utilizes the pendant, water is summoned around her, and is able to be controlled by her.

-Healing Descant; her personal skill. Those nearby to her will slowly start to heal if they're injured. Small wounds would take about 30 minutes to heal, larger ones about about one to two hours, and serious injuries would take several hours, up to 10.

New:

-Enhanced Agility

COMMUNITY POST (VOICE) SAMPLE:

[Technology was something still incredibly foreign to Azura. She'd never seen anything like these machines before, and the one she was holding in her hand was no different. She was a fast learner though, so she'd gotten the basic gist from what was explained to her — and so, she was going to try it out. She turns on the video feed and clears her throat, holding the camera steady in front of her:]

Hello everyone, and it's nice to meet you. I am Azura, a princess of — [a pause. she was still so used to saying Hoshido, but that wasn't right anymore. It hadn't been, for some time.] — the kingdom of Nohr. I have only arrived here recently, and I had a few questions that perhaps you could answer.

What kind of music do you like, and can you share some? Where can I listen to music native to this place on my own? I'm curious to expand my horizons. Are there any performance halls, for song or dance?

I'd appreciate any answers you could give me. Thank you.
